When I first started knitting, I pictured knitting up all kinds of glamorous wraps to wear around little black dresses. At the time, I didn’t know how to knit lace, that knitting on lace weight yarn on tiny needles took forever, or that I would have such a hard time choosing a project. As usual, my LYS came to my rescue and offered a workshop on the beautiful Nuvem by Martina Behm.
Such a pretty shawl deserves a beautiful yarn, so I chose to knit mine in Malabrigo Silkpaca in Sunset. Malabrigo Silkpaca is 70% baby alpaca and 30% silk, and might be one of the softest, most luscious yarns I have knit with.
The pattern is easy to memorize and the project goes quickly when you actually work on it. I haven’t had much time to work on mine, as you can probably tell by the variety of projects popping up on WIP Wednesday. I tend to have a lot of projects on the needles at once. I was in my craft studio the other day, though, and I came across the project bag and was so drawn to the softness of the yarn again that I sat down and did a round on the spot. I am hoping to find a quiet afternoon to dedicate a lot of time to this project and get it back on track.
