I’ve had quite a bit of time to knit this week, so I have made excellent progress on some socks.
The first project has been posted on the blog before, but I have a finished sock and have a fairly good start on the second one now. This is the TurtlePurl Yarns Striped Turtle Toes in the Trenchcoat colorway. I am making these in just my plain vanilla sock recipe with a Fish Lips Kiss Heel. I am hoping to finish the second sock this week, but we will see how the week goes.
The second project is what I am calling my Birthday Cake socks. I am using Desert Vista Dyeworks Viso base in the Happy Birthday Cupcake! colorway. For these socks I am using the Geek Socks pattern by Wei S. Leong that was published on Knitty. I will be subbing out the suggested heel for my preferred Fish Lips Kiss heel, but am otherwise following the pattern pretty closely. I do have one reservation – I am not sure if I am going to like walking on the slipped stitch pattern under my foot, but I wanted to do something different than my normal vanilla sock pattern so I am going to get the foot portion done, and then try it on after the heel and walk around some. If i find it too distracting, I may rip it out. I am hoping I will not notice it, though, and won’t have to start over.
Both of these pairs will count for both my Stash Dash and Splash Pad Party 2016 KALs I am participating in once I get them finished. Both of these KALs were mentioned in a Tip Tuesday post that you can find at this link.
