The other day, I had to run some errands and I knew I was going to end up sitting and waiting here and there throughout the day. I have socks on the needle, but one is at the heel turn, and the other I am following a pattern, so they weren’t really conducive to stop and go knitting at the moment. I grabbed a hat kit I had purchased a while ago, cast on, and threw it in my purse as I was on my way out the door.
I’m making the DMC Top This Giraffe hat. The kit comes with self striping yarn, the topper, and the pattern. The pattern in the Giraffe kit comes with both toddler and small adult sizes.
The yarn is okay to knit with – it is made for long stripes in three colors, and each color is a different texture. The tan section of this hat is a texture I didn’t really like – almost a fun fur – but it is soft to the touch so it shouldn’t irritate any skin next to it when wearing.
It’s a fast little hat. I’ll probably finish it this week. I am not sure if I will make another one or not, but there are a lot of topper kits to choose from should you want to knit up little gifts for someone.
