Roadside Oddities: Paul Bunyan Statue of Kenton, OR

Not to be confused with the Muffler Man Paul Bunyan statues that litter the country, this Paul Bunyan is a 31 foot concrete and metal sculpture that was erected as part of Oregon’s centennial celebration and is listed on the US National Register of Historic Places.

Currently located at the corner of North Interstate and North Denver in Kenton, a neighborhood of Portland, OR. In order to get a good shot where you aren’t staring up his nostrils, I recommend crossing the street to the train tracks, next to a bar called the Dancing Bare. Be careful of trains, though, obviously.

When looking up facts about this particular Paul Bunyan statue, I was surprised to find many comments about the tightness of his jeans. Specifically in the tushy area. Feels a little icky to me, but I would feel remiss if I were to leave the booty shot out.
